Lynne Nelson Antiques
NEW ITEMS I have been buying and selling 18th and 19th century country antiques for approximately 35 years concentrating in early paint, iron, lighting, and items to be found in the early kitchen. For the past several years I have shown in many of the antique shows throughout New England.
Measuring 5 1/4 in. In diameter and 2 1/2 in. high this early pot lid was made with a figural rooster peened through the center. In addition there is a decorative design all around the edges. Often these lids were made to cover the opening of pots or storage jars in order to prevent insects or rodents from invading the food. Examples. Are shown in the bood "IRON AT WINTERTHUR" by Donald Fennimore.
