Lynne Nelson Antiques
NEW ITEMS I have been buying and selling 18th and 19th century country antiques for approximately 35 years concentrating in early paint, iron, lighting, and items to be found in the early kitchen. For the past several years I have shown in many of the antique shows throughout New England.
Extremely rare late 18th early 19th c. wought iron pot cover with a fish "shark" handle. The pot lids are very scarce since few survived. They were used to cover pots in the fireplace in order to not only preserve the food but also to keep insects and rodent out. This lid is unique since most handles represent fowl. It also has designing around the edges. It is in old stove black. It is attached by a peened end. This lid measures 61/2 in. in diameter. The "fish" is 5 in. Long and sits 1 1/2 in. high. A great NY find and in very good condition.
