Rare form 18th century wrought iron birdcage candle holder. Birdcage or stable candleholders were designed to help prevent straw from coming in contact with flame in a stable. The candle socket can be lowered or raised within the cage of rods. Nice simple decorative punched design on sides and base, nice rats tail end on carrying hook. Measures 8 1/2" tall, base drip pan 3 3/4" x 4"
