Nice c.1900 checkerboard. Red and black with decorative painted corners. As seen in photo on the back is board and batten with nails around edges, gameboard most likely made from repurposed wood. Measures 16" x 15" x 3/4". Nice folk art look!

Nice c.1900 single sided gameboard. Blue and mustard decorated border, with blue and black squares. Only 1 end is painted, the other ends have many nail holes. Not sure if just missing moldings or if this is just from repurposed wood. Nice folk art look! Measures 12 7/8" x 11 5/8". Surface imperfections commensurate with age.

As seen in photos toning of board, painting in overall good condition. Red and black grain painted frame has area in upper left corner of wear and several areas on top portion of wear that someone at some point tried to spot paint over. Beautiful American hand painted violin case of the Civil War period. Brass handle on the top and two brass hook and eye catches on the side. Brass hinges, plush lined interior. Lock and key are present, but lock not functioning. No violin. The case is painted green, with embellishments in yellow. Including an eagle with wings spread and initials C.R. with and edge border and center divide. The side is painted in yellow with "July 10" and with borders to connect with the top. In the Gettysburg Campaign of 1863, the second Battle of Funkstown was fought on July 10. Measures 30 1/2" x 9 1/4" x 6" high.
