Antique German Hen on Nest Candy Container

For sale is a very sweet antique marked "Germany" hen on nest candy container that I acquired in the Midwest. It is papier mache/composition and cardboard, and is hand painted. The piece measures about 4" tall and 3 1/2" in diameter on the bottom, and the hen is about 3 1/2" long beak to tai. For sale is a terrific and I believe unusual antique German papier mache and cardboard hen on nest candy container that is also a pipsqueak in working condition. I acquired it in the Midwest, and is is hand painted and stamped Germany on the bottom, although it is a bit hard to see. The piece measures about 3 1/2" tall and 3 1/4" in diameter on the bottom, and the hen is about 3 1/2" long beak to tail. Antique PA. Moravian Rag Doll w/Provenance

For sale is a wonderful antique White rag doll that I acquired in Nashville, but that has provenance information indicating that it came from Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. I bought it from a seller who had it for many years, and there is a note pinned to the doll's dress that says "Doll bought many years ago in Bethlehem, PA. from a local dealer who was born and raised in Bethlehem, PA. She told me this was a Moravian rag doll made by the ladies sewing circle of the Moravian church in Bethlehem." The dollis made of linen, has a wonderful painted face, and curly wool hair, and although I'm not certain, I think she is wearing her original clothing. She measures about 24" tall, and is in nice, but antique condition, with some surface dirt, as well as fading and staining on her dress. Unusual Vintage Hanging Double Half Basket

For sale is a wonderful and rather unusual vintage folk art hanging double half basket that I acquired in Nashville. It could be southern in origin, but I can't verify that. It has nice weaving around the rim of each basket, and a single wide splint forms the handle and connects the 2 baskets. The piece measures about 17" tall including the handle, 9 1/2" wide, and 4 1/2" front to back, and is in very nice vintage condition, with a warm patina, but no really significant issues. Antq. Painted Pierced Tin Lantern w/Concave Glass

For sale is an unusual small size antique primitive pierced tin lantern that I acquired in Nashville. I have never seen a piece quite like it before. On the door, there is a piece of concave glass, and there is also a much smaller piece of concave glass on the back. The lantern has a chimney for releasing the smoke, and it has been painted a salmon color. It measures about 9 1/2" tall including the hanger on the top, and 4" in diameter on the bottom, and is in nice antique condition, with signs of age and use, and it should be noted that although the paint is old, I don't believe that it is original, and was probably added long ago to cover rust. Antq. Bone Letter Opener w/Scrimshaw Whaling Scene

For sale is a wonderful antique folk sailor's art carved bone letter opener that has been in my collection for quite a few years. It has a scrimshawed scene on the blade that depicts a sailing ship and a very large whale with the caption "A Dead Whale or a Stove Boat", meaning that the crew had to kill the whale or the ship would be destroyed. The handle has nicely carved details and there is a stanhope at the top, as well as a carved wax seal. In addition, the piece was made in 3 separate piece, as can be seen in picture #6. The piece measures about 8 1/4" long and the blade is about 7/8" wide. It is in nice antique condition, with nice signs of age and a couple of chips on the wax seal. For sale is a very dear antique late 19th century folk art rag doll that I acquired from an elderly woman in Alabama as I recall, and who stated that it had belonged to her mother. She appears to be mostly hand sewn, has a very naive hand drawn face, beaver skin hair, and is firmly stuffed with rags and /or wool. The doll measures about 24 1/2"tall, and is in primitive well loved antique condition, with surface dirt, toning, as well as damage where her arms connect to her torso, but they are still firmly in place. Antique Koala Bear Pin Keep Ex Pat Hatch

For sale is a very sweet and unusual antique pin keep, or possibly match holder, that was formerly in the collection of well known collector and dealer Pat Hatch. I believe that is made of mohair, has some kind of composition facial features, a ribbon around its neck, and is holding some kind of nut that holds the pins and needles, possibly a coquilla nut, although I don't know for sure. The inside of the bear appears to be wood as seen on the bottom, and the piece measures about 2 1/2" tall, 2" wide, and 2" front to back. For sale is a wonderful antique dated 1802 Pennsylvania primitive folk art flax hatchel/hetchel that I have had for a few years. The initials "M.B.J" are to the left of the date, and on the opposite side, there are the initials "J.S." along with a very stylized tulip. In addition, the original wooden cover remains with the piece. The hatchel measures about 12 1/2" long, 3 1/4" wide, and 4 1/2" tall, and is in nice antique condition, with nice signs of age, but no missing tines or other flaws. Antique Folk Art Rose & Doves Theorem Painting

For sale is a very sweet antique folk art theorem painting that depicts a large rose in the center flanked by doves near the top and butterflies near the bottom. I believe that I acquired it in Pennsylvania quite some time back, although honestly, I don't know for sure. The painting is primarily completed in shades of gray, but the doves' chests are light pink. The painting is housed in a wonderful old black painted frame, possibly original, and measures about 11 3/4" long and 9 3/4" wide, with sight measurements of 8 3/4" x 6 3/4". The theorem is in nice antique condition with some very light toning and a few spots, but no holes, tears, etc. The frame has nice craquelure and a tiny bit of chipping in the upper right corner, but no really significant flaws. For sale is a charming antique double sided crib quilt that I acquired in Pennsylvania a couple of years ago. It is hand pieced, hand quilted, and hand bound in Americana colors in a variety of calico and striped fabrics. I believe it is very thinly filled with cotton batting, and measures about 42" x 34". The piece is in very nice antique condition, with only one tiny area of fabric damage that I believe is due to iron in the dye, which is shown in picture 5. I found no other flaws at all. For sale is one of several antique late 19th century Black folk dolls that I acquired recently, and that were formerly in the collection of Nancy and Gary Stass. Most are completely original including the clothing. This one has naively stitched facial features including a couple of teeth, nubby wool hair, and 5 finger leather hands. She is wering a red cotton/linen dress with lace details, bloomers with lace trim, and leather shoes with red shoelaces. The doll measures about 17" tall, and is in well loved antique condition, with significant damage on her hands, and in fact her left hand is barely hanging on. Her dress and shoes are also in poor condition. Still, the doll would be a very nice addition to any antique folk art doll collection, especially if you like primitive ones. For sale is one of several antique late 19th century Black folk dolls that I acquired recently, and that were formerly in the collection of Nancy and Gary Stass. Most are completely original including the clothing. This one has naively stitched facial features and almost appears to be sleeping, and her hair is nubby wool. Her head and torso are firmly stuffed with what feels like cotton. Her dress is a very sweet blue, red, yellow, and cream plaid fabric with a adorable short puffy sleeves. In addition, she is wearing a cotton petticoat with a wide ruffle, bloomers with lace trim, black cotton knit socks, and leather boots. The doll measures about 26" tall, and is in antique condition, with make-do mismatched replaced arms, holes in the top layer of fabric on her face, and some damage to her bloomers. Still, the doll would be a very nice addition to any antique folk art doll collection, especially if you like rather primitive ones. I am not sure what was used for her hair, but it is very wiry. She is fairly firmly stuffed with what feels like a combination of cotton and straw. Her dress is a very sweet red, brown, and cream plaid fabric with a ruffled collar. In addition, she is wearing a pink and creamy white striped flannel petticoat, bloomers with wide lace trim, striped cotton knit socks, and leather shoes. Very Early Dated 1794 Mary Nevill Sampler w/Verse

For sale is a wonderful and quite early antique dated 1794 sampler that was made by Mary NevillI that I believe is English. I think it is silk on linen, possibly homespun, and it has a variety of images including fruit/flower baskets, a row of what I believe are crowns, and a small bird with flowers(?) next to it. In addition, there are several lines of verse that say "Greatness in Virtue only's understood, None's truly great that is not truly good. On all occasions to declare the Truth, is most Praise Worthy in a virtuous Youth. I typed it with how we would read it today, but some of the "s's" are "f's" in the sampler as they would have been at that time. The sampler is housed in a wonderful old figured maple frame with a gold inner liner, although I don't think it is as old as the textile. The framed piece measures about 12 1/2" square with sight measurements of about 8 1/4" square. It is in nice, but antique condition with overall toning, and one area on the lower left corner with minor well concealed damage that is shown in picture #4. None of the stitching shows damage. Antq. Scandinavian Fish Form Tine Box w/Provenance

For sale is a very unique, and I believe rare, antique Scandinavian folk art tine box in the form of a fish. I acquired it a few years ago in Nebraska, and have enjoyed it ever since. It is painted a wonderful dark teal blue, and has carved fans and waves on the entire piece. In addition, there is a tag on the inside that says "Blue Box, Dorothy Hammond, 593SBX", the last part I assume being an inventory number. It is my understanding that Dorothy was an avid and fairly well known collector of Scandinavian folk art, and that this piece was sold at an estate auction some time ago. The box measures about 10 1/2" long including the fish's tail, 4 1/2" wide, and 4 1/2" tall including the locking mechanisms, and is in very nice antique condition, with some expected paint wear from age and use, but no significant flaws, and the locking/closing mechanism works well. For sale is a very sweet antique folk art miniature reverse painting that depicts a very sad looking beagle that I acquired in Nashville. I think that perhaps the dog is in mourning, as there is a vase with a single flower in it by his tail, as well as an image above the vase of which I have been unable to determine what exactly it is. It sort of looks like some type pf animal that might symbolize something, I just don't know. The painting is housed in what I believe is the original frame with a metal loop hanger, and measures about 5 7/8" x 4 7/8" with sight measurements of 4 1/8" x 3 1/8". For sale is a very sweet and authentic antique Pennsylvania folk art strawberry make-do pin cushion that I have had for a few years. It is made of wool, and has 6 smaller strawberries dangling around the perimeter on the bottom. The leaves are embroidered with wool yarn, and the entire pin cushion sits atop a blue glass base, possibly a dessert cup, although I don't know for sure. The strawberries are filled with cotton and some rags, I believe, and the piece measures about 11" tall and 4 1/2" in diameter on the base. Each of the small strawberries is about 2 1/2" long. For sale is a darling antique folk art cat pin cushion/whimsy that I acquired in Pennsylvania at least 10 years ago. Although it has rather long ears for a cat, I don't think it is a dog or a rabbit, but you can be the judge, lol. I believe that it is completely hand sewn of blue and white homespun, has black glass bead eyes, naively stitched nose and mouth, and wears a wide maroon faux leather collar around its neck that is enhanced with tiny black beads. It is firmly stuffed with cotton or possibly wool, and measures about 5 1/4" tall including its ears, 2 1/2" wide at the bottom, and 1 3/4" front to back. It is in nice antique condition, with a couple of barely detectable brown spots, and what looks like remnants of a paper sticker on the bottom. For sale is a wonderful and very unusual antique handmade primitive folk art carding comb, at least I think that's what it is lol, in the form of a guitar or some kind of stringed instrument. I have never seen anything quite like this before. Small what I believe are hand cut nails have been used to make the teeth, and there is a hole in the back for hanging. Dtd.1927 Charlotte Baumbach Folk Art Painted Peel

For sale is a terrific vintage, almost antique, lol, dated 1927 folk art painted peel in a floral wreath design. The piece also has the name "Charlotte Baumbach" above the year, and I would assume that is who the piece was made for. The piece is large, measuring about 33" long including the handle, 26" in diameter, and 1/2" thick. Antique Folk Art Pig Pin Cushion or Whimsy

For sale is a wonderful antique late 19th to early 20th century handmade folk art pig pin cushion, whimsy, or possibly even a toy that I acquired in New England last year, and that might have been made there as well, or possibly in Germany. It is made of creamy white wool, has black bead eyes, wool felt nose, stitched mouth, and has a collar with a single sequin around his neck. He feels like he is stuffed with either sawdust or sand, and his tail is made of wire covered with the same fabric as the body. The piggy measures about 6 1/2" long nose to tail, 2 1/2" tall, and 1 1/2" wide, and is in nice antique condition, with minor signs of age including a couple of small brown spots as well as a small hole in his tail revealing the wire, but no really significant flaws and no leakage. Rare Antique Schoolgirl Folk Art Unicorns Fraktur

For sale is a wonderful and fairly rare antique schoolgirl folk art watercolor fraktur that depict a pair of unicorns with heart and vine embellishments. It has been in my collection for several years, and I purchased it from a dealer friend in New York state. The piece has been placed on a black background and house in an old gold frame. It measures about 11 3/4" x 8 3/4" with sight measurements of 9 3/4" x 6 3/4", and the image itself is about 7 1/2" x 4 3/4". The fraktur is in nice antique condition, with light toning, and rather ragged edges, having possibly originally in a book, although I don't know for sure. For sale are 2 antique handmade folk art hot pads or pot holders that I acquired in my travels. One is s stumpwork piece completed on wool in a chevron pattern. The other piece is made of silk in a crazy quilt design, and one of the silk pieces has advertising that says "Beacon Brand, Warranted Best". For sale is a wonderful antique firkin that I acquired recently. It is painted in a sort of PA. style decoration with hears, and stars in yellow, green, and red, over a creamy white. The paint is old, but I don't know if it is as old as the firkin itself. The insides of the bucket and lid are painted, but the bottom isn't. For sale is a sweet antique 19th century folk art pen wipe that depicts a mama pig and 2 piglets that has been in my collection for several years. I believe that the piggies are made of kid leather that has been painted white, and the have tiny bead eyes. They are sitting on 3 layers of wool felt that have been cut using pinking shear. The pen wipe measures about 5" long, 4" wide, and 1" tall, the mama pig is about 2" long, and the piglets are about 1 3/4". The piece is in nice but antique condition, with signs of age and use including minor surface dirt and a bit of damage on the felt layers, but it displays very well. Rare 1793 Figural Sampler by Sarah Hughes

For sale is a wonderful and quite early dated 1793 sampler that came from a sale in New York state. I believe that it is silk on homespun linen, and is signed "Sarah Hughes". Images include a central bird tree flanked by oversize tulips, and several different images of very stylized flowers below. The sampler is housed in an old black painted frame, definitely old, but not nearly as old as the sampler. The framed piece measures about 18 1/4" x 9" with sight measurements of 17" x 7 3/4". It is in very nice antique condition, especially for such an early sampler. There is overall even toning, and one tiny area of fabric separation, but no missing needlework, although the date and the name "Hughes" are light, and don't stand out. For sale is a wonderful antique 19th century folk art band box that I acquired a few years ago in Ohio, but that I'm fairly certain was made in Pennsylvania. It has a wonderful painted tulip design, and the sides are attached with thin strips of wood. It was also constructed with tiny pegs, as well as nails added over the years. The box measures about 17 1/2" long, 8 1/2" wide, and 5 7/8" tall. It is in nice, but antique condition, with craquelure on the tulips, age and use related wear, but it displays very well. There is a tight crack across the top of the lid, but it is very straight, so I don't know for sure if the lid was made in 2 pieces or if it actually is a crack. 19th C. Diminutive Basket in Original Bittersweet

For sale is a terrific antique late 19th century primitive handmade small size basket in original bittersweet paint that came from Ohio. I know that it is a bit hard to see the paint color, but I have tried to show it in picture 4. This is a very delicate basket, and the inside is unpainted. It measures about 6" tall including the handle, 5 3/4" long, and 5 1/4" wide, and is in nice antique condition, with surface dirt, particularly on the interior, as well as some fading on the paint, as you can see that the paint is brighter on the bottom. John Webster's Needlepoint Wallet Dated 1868

For sale is a terrific antique man's needlepoint wallet with the name John Webster, and the year 1868. I acquired it from a sale in Massachusetts, and the piece may have been made by his wife or daughter, although I can't verify that. There are other flourishes including what looks like an anchor on the lower left, and the piece is bound and lined with red silk. It measures about 4 1/2" x 3 5/8", and is in nice antique condition, with signs of age and use including wear on the silk, but it displays very nicely. Tiny 1 3/4" Tall Vintage Southern Folk Art Basket

For sale is a wonderful antique dated 1880 Victorian folk art wall pocket with a needlepoint design that depicts a stag's head with a leaf garland. I found it at a vintage store in Pocatello, Idaho. Rare Ca. 1800 Folk Art Sheet Iron Angel

For sale is a fabulous and I believe rare, antique folk art cut sheet iron depiction of an angel in a walking position holding a pine tree. I acquired it from a sale in Virginia and information given was that it could be a door knocker. There are paint decorated details defining his face, arms, legs, and wings on both sides, as well as a threaded rod where it would have been screwed into place. For sale is an antique 19th century Pennsylvania folk art fraktur that was formerly in the collection of Jo and Jim Adams of York, PA. It has a central 10 petal flower, and is flanked by other flowers that look to be budding. The piece is housed in what could be the original frame with the original metal loop at the top, and measures about 10" x 6 3/4" with sight measurements of 7 1/4" x 4". It is in nice, but antique condition, with toning and minor stains, and it looks like it may have been part of a larger piece at one time. Still the colors are wonderful, and it is worthy of display. It should also be noted that it was removed from the frame for examination, and acid free backing was added before placing it back in the frame, and of course, the paper backing is new. For sale is what I believe is a fairly rare antique German papier mache double elephant pull-toy that I acquired from a dealer friend several years ago, and that has been in my private collection ever since. The piece appears to be all original, and the tusks are still intact. Even the braided cotton string pull appears to be original. I also like how the base is painted in orange and teal, with the original wheels. 19th C. British Silhouette of Boy w/Riding Crop

For sale is a wonderful antique British silhouette of a boy holding a riding crop with provenance that I acquired recently. According to information on the back, as well as additional information provided by the seller, it depicts Arthur Campbell Bulkey Praed (1846-1901) of London. His father, John Praed (1799-1876), was an English first-class cricket player. The silhouette is cut paper with painted details, and is housed in an antique, possibly the original frame. The framed piece measures about 6 5/8" x 5", with sight measurements of 5 5/8" x 4". The image alone is about 5 3/4" x 2 1/2". The silhouette is in very nice antique condition, with very light overall toning, and minor wear on the frame, but no significant flaws. For sale is a really charming antique folk art dated 1831 sampler that was made by Elizabeth Hollis aged 9 years. Although I certainly don't know for sure, I think that it could be American, and was completed on homespun linen. Images include birds, dogs, and flowers, trees, etc., but what I really love is the birdcage at the bottom. In addition, it has a triangle border, and 3 different versions of the alphabet, one also including the numbers 1 through 12. It is housed in what could be the original bird's eye maple with the original very wavy glass. Antique Working German Exotic Bird Pipsqueak

For sale is a wonderful antique German exotic bird pipsqueak that has been in my collection for a couple of years. The bird is made of felt with real feather and white fur accents, and has black bead eyes, wire legs, and he sits on a platform above the bellows. The piece measures about 6 3/4" tall, 5 1/2" long, and 3" wide on the base, and the bird itself is about 5" long. It is in nice working antique condition, but does show signs of age including tears in the bellows, but it displays very well. Antique Working German Child in Cradle Pipsqueak

For sale is a wonderful, and I believe rare form child in a cradle antique German pipsqueak that has been in my collection for a while. The child's head is hand painted papier mache, and the bedding is nice blue calico print cotton. The cradle is wood that is painted orange with a yellow vine design, and I believe that the bellows is made of kid leather. The pipsqueak measures about 4" long, 2 1/2" tall including the child's head, and 3" wide from the rockers, and is in nice antique condition, with signs of age, but no significant issues, and the squeaker/bellows still works. For sale is a very nice and fairly large size antique German papier mache pigeon pipsqueak that has been in my collection for a couple of years. Ca.1850 N. Carolina Lily Quilt w/Provenance

For sale is a wonderful antique quilt made for a poster bed in a North Carolina Lily pattern according to information that came with it. I purchased it from a collection in Vermont, and it is hand pieced, hand quilted in a diamond grid pattern, hand bound in charming calico print fabrics, and is filled with cotton. There are 2 cards that came with it, one stating the most recent owner, which was Sarah Dopp of So. Burlington, VT. The other card/tag states the name Katherine E. Dopp of So. Burlington, as well as a note stating that it was made by Electa Thankful Warner in the mid 19th century. The quilt measures about 88" x 84", and is in nice antique condition, with no holes, rips, or repairs, although there is an area of light toning as well as a couple of light spots near the bottom. Antique Velvet Butterfly Pen Wipe/Pin Keep

For sale is a wonderful antique folk art black velvet butterfly pen wipe and/or pin keep that has been in my private collection for quite a few years. I originally found it in Ohio, and it may have been made there, or possibly in Pennsylvania. The butterfly has red embroidered details, is backed with silk, I believe, and has 2 layers of wool underneath. It measures about 3 1/4" long from its abdomen, 3 3/8" wide, and 3/4" front to back, and is in nice antique condition, with some wear on the velvet, a few pin holes on the silk, but no significant flaws. Antique Folk Art Ball & Cage Whimsy w/Faces

For sale is a terrific antique primitive folk art ball and cage whimsy that I acquired in Washington state. It has 4 balls inside the cage, but what makes it unique is that there are carved faces at each end. Each face has white bead eyes and naively carved facial features. The whimsy measures about 10 1/2" long, and each side is about 1" long. It is in nice antique condition, with a warm aged patina, but no significant flaws. Antique Turned Wood Mortar & Pestle

For sale is an antique rather elaborately turned wood mortar and pestle. I think that it may be lignum vitae, but I don't know for sure. The mortar measures about 6 3/4" tall, 5 1/4" in diameter on the top, and 5" in diameter on the bottom. The pestle has a nicely turned handle accented with scribed lines, and measures about 10" long, 1" in diameter on the top, and 2 1/4" in diameter on the bottom. Antique Mortar & Pestle in Old Red w/Zinc Lining

For sale is a terrific antique mortar and pestle set that retains an old red painted surface as well as a zinc lining. The mortar has a sort of pedestal bottom, and measures about 7 1/4" tall, 4 7/8" in diameter on the top, and 4 1/2" in diameter on the bottom. The pestle is fairly simple in design, and measures about 10 1/4" long, 1 1/2" in diameter on the top, and 3" in diameter on the bottom. The set is in nice but well used antique condition, with wear on the zinc, as well as stains, dents, chips, and a tight stable crack on the pestle. Small Antq. Die-Cut in Hand Carved Folk Art Frame

For sale is a wonderful antique die-cut that depicts a young boy holding a dove that has been placed in a fabulous hand carved folk art frame that I acquired in Nashville, Tennessee. There is chip carving, scroll work, and flowers in the corners, and even the hanger at the top is part of the design. I have never seen a frame quite like it. The piece measures about 7" tall and 5 1/2" wide, with sight measurements of 3 1/2" x 2 1/4". The image has been placed on acid free backing, and the condition of the piece is very nice, with an aged patina, but no significant issues. The glass and paper backing are new replacements. For sale is a terrific antique primitive dry measure with a bail handle that I acquired in Nebraska. I believe that it is made of oak, is constructed with what look like hand cut nails, and measures about 8 3/4" in diameter and 5" tall not including the handle which rises about 5" when fully upright. Rare Old Primitive Folk Art Mardi Gras Noisemaker

For sale is what I believe is a rare antique super primitive folk art Mardi Gras noisemaker that I acquired in Iowa. I believe that it dates back to about the 1920's, and there are 5 figures, 3 men and 2 women, and the on on top has a guitar. The piece is made of wood, fabric, and paper, is very naively painted, has tin disks that make a jingling noise when the lever at the bottom is moved. In addition, the shaft is made of bamboo. The piece measures about 33" long when the lever is pulled all the way down, and 12" in diameter. The figures are about 7"-7 1/2" tall. The piece is in primitive condition, with surface dirt, wear, and other signs of age, but where are you going to find another one? 19th C. Pine Miniature Chest in Old Yellow Paint

For sale is a wonderful antique 19th century primitive miniature chest that I acquired from a sale in Pennsylvania, and that may have been made there as well, although I can't completely verify that. It is hand dovetailed, and retains an old yellow painted surface. Interestingly, there are shadows of what appear to be decoupage, and there are still pieces of decoupage on the interior of the lid. For sale is a terrific antique folk art, most likely Canadian, hooked rug that depicts a beaver surrounded by leaves and other more abstract designs. Antq. Leaf Watercolor Award of Merit + German Note

For sale is a very sweet antique leaf design award of merit, along with a note written in German. I am not sure if they were always together, but that is the way I purchased the piece. Under the leaf design, it says, "To John F. Campbell, By G.H. Willow, Teacher". The 2 items are housed in a wonderful old antique frame with its original metal loop hanger, and the piece measures about 9" x 7 3/8" with sight measurements of 6 1/2" x 4 3/4". It is in nice antique condition, with minor signs of age, but no significant flaws. For sale is an antique folk art depiction of a young man courting a maiden by playing a stringed instrument, possibly a mandolin??? I acquired the piece in New Hampshire, and it is rendered on silk. The painting is housed in an appropriate period frame, and measures about 12 1/2" x 9 1/2" with sight measurements of 9 1/2" x 6 1/2". It is in nice antique condition, with toning and foxing, but no shredding, holes, rips, etc. The frame has an aged patina and minor wear. It should be noted that the painting was removed from the frame for inspection, and the last photo shows the back of the piece before the paper backing and wire hanger were replaced. For sale is a very sweet and naive antique folk art endearment, possibly a memorial or love token that depicts several different flowers including a pansy, an iris, and lilies of the valley. It was done on ledger paper. There is an arch on the left with flowers and other images, and the letter "M" under it, and a heart shaped floral wreath on the right with what could be a butterfly sitting atop it and an "M" in the middle. In addition, the piece was removed from the frame for examination, and the last picture is of the back. The piece is housed in a nice old frame with a gold inner liner, and measures about 10" x 8" with sight measurements of 7" x 5". Antique Folk Art Horses Candle Shelf Match Holder

For sale is a very unique antique folk art candle or kerosene lamp shelf and match holder that I acquired in New England. It depicts 2 horses facing each other, and there are little barrels for holding matches above the the circular shelf. The underside of the shelf has a series of concentric circles, and is held in place from the back with 2 screws. The shelf measures about 10" long, 8" wide at its widest point, and 5 1/4" deep, and is in nice antique condition, with a dark aged patina, a tight stable crack on one of the match holders, as well as a bit of wood missing at the bottom of one of the horse's manes, which appears to have happened a long time ago, and isn't really noticeable.
