Albion Valley Folk Art and Antiques
*****Happy Spring to all of my Dig Antiques customers and friends. I have returned from my Midwest buying trip, and have begun listing a few items that I found. I will continue to do so next week after I return from participating in an antique show in Ogden,Utah this weekend. Wish me luck, lol, and I'll be back next week.***** Welcome to my shop! My husband and I have enjoyed collecting antiques, especially folk art and handmade items, for over 30 years. I especially love old handmade and German stuffed animals, pen wipes, and textiles, including quilts, show towels, hooked rugs, and samplers. I also love old folk art animal carvings and decoys. I want people to be happy with their purchases from me, and offer a full return on any item if it doesn't meet your expectations. However, please ask questions if you are unsure as I am not an expert on all items that I sell, although I try to describe items to the best of my ability based on information I am given, my own research, as well as tips often given by knowledgeable collectors and dealers. Offers are welcome, and layaway is available. Forms of payment accepted are Paypal, credit card, personal check, and money order. *****I always try to promptly respond to inquiries, so please, if you don't hear from me, check your spam folder.***** *****My alternate email address is murphy@atcnet.net, so if you have trouble contacting me through my gmail address, you can use this one.***** *****Please note, I ship most items using USPS ground advantage. Should you prefer another shipping option, please let me know, and the difference in price will be added to the cost. In addition, I do ship internationally, but the cost will need to be determined. I appreciate your understanding on this.******
For sale is a very sweet antique late 19th century folk art oil painting of 5 swallows, 4 appearing to be on the ground near water, and on flying above. I acquired the painting in Nebraska, and it is completed on a papier mache plate. The person I purchased it from stated that it was dated 1884, and I believe it is on the back, but it is very hard to see. There are also words on the back, but the only one that I can really read is "leather", the significance of which I don't know. There is the name "Kittie" written in pencil as well. The piece measures about 14 1/8" in diameter, and is in nice antique condition, with a bit of minor wea in and around the edges, as well as some minor yellowing on the varnish, but no really major issues. There is an area on the back where there must have been a hanger glued on, but apparently it came off, and was covered with duct tape. Please look carefully at the pictures, and contact me with any questions or for additional photos.

Please look carefully at the pictures, and contact me with any questions or for additional photos.

For sale is a fabulous and rare antique red mohair long snout humpback teddy bear that came from Virginia. I don't know for sure it if is German or American, although I would lean toward German. The red mohair is rather mottled, with some brown in it, the pads appear to be original, the shoe button eyes also appear to be original, there are remnants of a black yarn nose and mouth, and it is stuffed with straw. The bear measures about 19" tall, and is in nice antique condition, with expected wear and a few small holes revealing the straw. Please look carefully at the pictures, and contact me with any questions or for additional photos.

There is a hook for hanging the lamp at the bottom, and a long spike for attaching to the wall. The piece measures about 10 3/4" long, the bird is about 4 1/2" long, and the flowers are about 2 3/4" in diameter. For sale is a very sweet antique Edwardian folk art oil painting on board of a couple in a sort of veranda overlooking a village by the sea. There are quite a few sailboats in the water, and a mountainous area across the water with what looks like it could be another village, but it is painted white, so I don't know for sure. The painting is unsigned, but there is writing scratched on the back with letters and numbers, and I don't know what they mean. The frame is terrific, with scribed decoration all the way around. The framed piece measures about 18 1/4" x 12 3/4" with sight measurements of 15" x 9 1/2". It is in nice antique condition with some yellowing and craquelure, as well as minor wear on the frame, but it displays very well. Please look carefully at the pictures, and contact me with any questions or for additional photos.

For sale is a terrific, and I believe fairly rare matched pair of pen wipes that have been in my collection for awhile. There is an adorable begging dog, and a striped cat. They are filled with sawdust, and sit on 4 layers of leaves mostly wool felt, although the top leaf on each is velvet/velveteen. Each animal is about 3" tall, and the bottom is 5 3/4" long, and 4 1/2" wide. Both are in nice, but used, antique condition, with fabric wear, a bit of staining, and the dog has a couple of tiny holes. Please look carefully at the pictures, and contact me with any questions or for additional photos.

For sale is a very sweet antique folk art rag doll that came from Nashville. She has a pencil drawn face, mitten hands, and her knees bend. She is wearing a very sweet brown and white checked dress and a blue and white checked bonnet, both of which are similar to homespun, but I don't think they are. In addition, they are both completely hand sewn. She is also wearing a very sweet petticoat, but it is machine sewn. The doll measures about 14 1/2" tall, and is in nice antique condition, with surface dirt and a small hole on her right hand that reveals a bit of her cotton stuffing. in addition, although her clothes are appropriate and fit her quite well, I'm not sure they are original, as the dress and petticoat are in very nice condition, with no holes, rips, or repairs. The bonnet does have a few brown spots but no other issues. Please look carefully at the pictures, and contact me with any questions or for additional photos.

For sale is a wonderful antique folk art painted scene of a boy in a boat, I assume trying to get the cow back on land. It is painted on a very slightly concave bird's eye maple plate, and measures about 11 1/2" in diameter. The piece is in nice antique condition, with some minor signs of age, but no significant flaws, although for some reason, there is a nail on the back which I didn't attempt to remove. Please look carefully at the pictures, and contact me with any questions or for additional photos.

For sale is a very sweet antique, most likely late 19th to early 20th century, bars design crib summer bedcover that I acquired on a trip to Pennsylvania a few years ago. It is treadle machine pieced and bound, and there is no batting. The piece measures about 35 3/4" x 23 1/2", and is in very nice condition, with some very light toning, but no significant flaws. Please look carefully at the pictures, and contact me with any questions or for additional photos.

For sale is a really unique antique handmade primitive folk art gnocchi maker in the form of some kind of stringed instrument that I have had for a while, and that I believe is European. It has a separate tool that I guess is for separating the gnocchi, and there is writing on the back that looks like a name, but I can't make it out. There is also a number that looks like 1954, but I think the piece is most likely older than that based on the patina and how it is made. It measures about 7" long, 3" wide, and 1" front to back, and the tool is about 5 3/4" long. The piece is in nice antique condition, with signs of age and use, but no significant issues. Please look carefully at the pictures, and contact me with any questions or for additional photos.

For sale is a very sweet antique late 19th century Black Americana folk art rag bottle doll that came from California, although I don't know where it was made. The doll's head and arms are made from a brown knit sock, and her face is hand painted. The rest is made from an old bottle covered with an old black sock and filled with sawdust. Her dress and turban are made with a wonderful early fabric, with silk ribbon around the neck and waist, as well as lace trim around the neck and sleeves. The doll measures about 15" tall, and is in nice but antique condition with some tears on the fabric, as well as significant fading, as the background color was originally a teal blue as can be seen in the photos. In addition, her head leans a little bit, and the silk ribbon has shredded somewhat. Please look carefully at the pictures, and contact me with any questions or for additional photos.

For sale is a very sweet antique Pennsylvania folk art crib quilt in a basket pattern that I have had for a few years. It is hand pieced, hand appliqued, and hand quilted using black, double pink, and white calico fabrics, and the backing is turned to the front and hand sewn to form the binding. I don't believe there is any batting. The quilt measures about 30 1/2" x 29 3/4", and is in nice antique condition, with one brown spot which is shown in the 3rd photo, and one tiny repair that I hadn't even noticed before, and that is shown in the 5th photo. In fact, the quilt doesn't feel like it has ever been washed. Please look carefully at the pictures, and contact me with any questions or for additional photos.

For sale is a very sweet and relatively small size antique ca. 1880 doll cradle that came from Ohio, although I think it may have been made in Pennsylvania. It is painted a very dark indigo blue, almost black on the exterior and a sort of khaki on the interior, but what makes it special are the carved hearts on both the exterior and interior of the footboard. The cradle measures about 13 1/2" long, 7 1/4" wide from the nicely carved rockers, and 9" tall from the hood including the rockers. It is in nice antique condition, with one area on the hood that was repaired long ago, as well as minor paint wear, but no really significant issues. For sale is a large antique Black Americana folk art male rag doll that came from New York state. I was told that he dates from the 19th century, and based on his clothing, I think that is probably accurate. I believe he is made of linen and canvas, has very crudely painted facial features, black wool yarn hair, and is wearing his original clothing. It should be noted that his shirt can be removed, but his pants are sewn in place. The doll measures about 30" tall, and is in antique but displayable condition, with fading, particularly on his shirt, which now appears tan, but was originally blue, as well as some areas of wear on his hands, boots, and hair. There are no holes in his body or clothing. Please look carefully at the pictures, and contact me with any questions or for additional photos.

For sale is a very dear antique sampler, really a fragment, as it was once part of a larger piece, that I acquired in Nashville. I believe it is quite early, dating to the late 18th to early 19th century. I was immediately drawn to the horse, and there is also a man near a tree, and a house flanked by trees nearby. There is also a tiny swan near the bottom, and a floral garland surrounds 3 sides. There is also a tiny black ink signature near the top left that reads "Orinda(?) M. Lem(???). It is housed in a vintage gold leaf frame, and measures about 18 3/4" x 9 3/4" with sight measurements of 16 1/2" x 7 1/2". For sale is a very naive antique, most likely early 1900's to possibly the 1930's, folk art whirligig that depicts a Black Man sawing wood with what looks like a seagull perched on a sort of lighthouse style perch behind him. It measures about 14" tall, 14 1/4" long, and 4" wide, and is in antique condition, with the propellers long gone, significant paint wear, and other signs of having been outside for a long time. The piece measures about 22" long, 10 1/2" wide, and the spoon holders are each about 1 1/2" long and 1 1/4" deep. It is in nice vintage condition, with overall rust and pitting, and it almost appears to have random dots painted on the front, although I don't know for sure. For sale is a unique antique folk art pantry box that I acquired in Iowa. On the lid, there is a painted double star design, with the larger star completed in red and black, and the smaller star in the center done in yellow and white. For sale is a wonderful antique White rag doll that I acquired in Nashville, but that has provenance information indicating that it came from Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. I bought it from a seller who had it for many years, and there is a note pinned to the doll's dress that says "Doll bought many years ago in Bethlehem, PA. from a local dealer who was born and raised in Bethlehem, PA. She told me this was a Moravian rag doll made by the ladies sewing circle of the Moravian church in Bethlehem." The dollis made of linen, has a wonderful painted face, and curly wool hair, and although I'm not certain, I think she is wearing her original clothing. For sale is one of several antique late 19th century Black folk dolls that I acquired recently, and that were formerly in the collection of Nancy and Gary Stass. Most are completely original including the clothing. This one has naively stitched facial features including a couple of teeth, nubby wool hair, and 5 finger leather hands. She is wering a red cotton/linen dress with lace details, bloomers with lace trim, and leather shoes with red shoelaces. The doll measures about 17" tall, and is in well loved antique condition, with significant damage on her hands, and in fact her left hand is barely hanging on. Her dress and shoes are also in poor condition. Still, the doll would be a very nice addition to any antique folk art doll collection, especially if you like primitive ones. Please look carefully at the pictures, and contact me with any questions or for additional photos.

For sale is a very unique, and I believe rare, antique Scandinavian folk art tine box in the form of a fish. I acquired it a few years ago in Nebraska, and have enjoyed it ever since. It is painted a wonderful dark teal blue, and has carved fans and waves on the entire piece. In addition, there is a tag on the inside that says "Blue Box, Dorothy Hammond, 593SBX", the last part I assume being an inventory number. It is my understanding that Dorothy was an avid and fairly well known collector of Scandinavian folk art, and that this piece was sold at an estate auction some time ago. The box measures about 10 1/2" long including the fish's tail, 4 1/2" wide, and 4 1/2" tall including the locking mechanisms, and is in very nice antique condition, with some expected paint wear from age and use, but no significant flaws, and the locking/closing mechanism works well. Please look carefully at the pictures, and contact me with any questions or for additional photos.

For sale is a very sweet antique folk art miniature reverse painting that depicts a very sad looking beagle that I acquired in Nashville. I think that perhaps the dog is in mourning, as there is a vase with a single flower in it by his tail, as well as an image above the vase of which I have been unable to determine what exactly it is. It sort of looks like some type pf animal that might symbolize something, I just don't know. The painting is housed in what I believe is the original frame with a metal loop hanger, and measures about 5 7/8" x 4 7/8" with sight measurements of 4 1/8" x 3 1/8". It is in nice antique condition, although it was removed from the frame for examination, and a new paper backing was added. Please look carefully at the pictures, and contact me with any questions or for additional photos.

The strawberries are filled with cotton and some rags, I believe, and the piece measures about 11" tall and 4 1/2" in diameter on the base. Each of the small strawberries is about 2 1/2" long. The make-do is in nice antique condition, with nice signs of age, including a few small holes, but it displays very well. It is in nice, but antique condition, with wear, a few pinholes, lots of brown rust spots, and minor surface dirt. There is a tight crack across the top of the lid, but it is very straight, so I don't know for sure if the lid was made in 2 pieces or if it actually is a crack. There is also an area on the lid where some wood is missing, but it happened long ago. Please look carefully at the pictures, and contact me with any questions or for additional photos.

The footstool measures about 14" long, 8 1/2" wide, and 7 1/2" tall, and is in nice antique condition, with age and use evident on the paint, but no significant issues on the hooked top. Please look carefully at the pictures, and contact me with any questions or for additional photos.

For sale is what I think is a rather unusual antique painted bucket that came from New England. It is painted primarily a barn red with indigo wooden strapping around the bottom. There are 2 large holes on each side, but it doesn't really look as if there was ever a handle, although I don't know. If anyone knows more about pieces of this type, I would appreciate any information. The bucket measures about 8 1/4" tall, 9" in diameter on the top, and 10" in diameter on the bottom, and is in solid but antique condition, with much of the indigo worn away, a few insect holes on the bottom, as well as other signs of age and use. Please look carefully at the pictures, and contact me with any questions or for additional photos.

For sale is a wonderful antique 19th century Victorian folk art triple heart in hand valentine that has been in my collection for several years. There is also a bookmark made of perforated paper and silk that says "A Mothers Gift", and I think that each hand most likely represents one of her children. The piece is housed in an antique, possibly the original frame, and measures about 10 3/4" x 8 3/4" with sight measurements of 8 1/2" x 6 1/2". The hands range from about 3 1/4" to 3 5/8" long. For sale is a wonderful antique 19th century French petit point that depicts 2 hunting dogs that I acquired in Boise, Idaho. It appears to be a small sort of doily as there is crochet work all the way around completed in metallic thread. The piece is housed in its original frame which indicates that it was done in Paris. The framed piece measures about 10 3/8" x 8 3/8" with sight measurements of 9 1/2" x 7 1/2". The piece itself is about 8" x 6". The composition is in nice antique condition, with a couple of light spots below the petit point, minor wear on the frame, and part of the label missing on the back, but no really significant flaws. Please look carefully at the pictures, and contact me with any questions or for additional photos.

For sale is a wonderful vintage Pennsylvania folk art watercolor fraktur that depicts a pair of roosters. There is a stylized tulip above one rooster, a different stylized flower above the other, and what I believe is a very stylized tree in between them. The piece has good age, but I don't think that it is 19th century. Each rooster has an oversized flower behind it, and there is a bush/tree in the middle. The piece is housed in a nice old frame with a metal loop hanger, and measures about 10" x 6", with sight measurements of 8" x 4". The piece is in nice vintage condition, with overall toning, but no other issues. It should also be noted that the piece was removed from the frame for examination, and acid free backing was added, as well as a new paper backing. Please look carefully at the pictures, and contact me with any questions or for additional photos.

For sale is a wonderful antique British silhouette of a boy holding a riding crop with provenance that I acquired recently. According to information on the back, as well as additional information provided by the seller, it depicts Arthur Campbell Bulkey Praed (1846-1901) of London. His father, John Praed (1799-1876), was an English first-class cricket player. The silhouette is cut paper with painted details, and is housed in an antique, possibly the original frame. The framed piece measures about 6 5/8" x 5", with sight measurements of 5 5/8" x 4". The image alone is about 5 3/4" x 2 1/2". The silhouette is in very nice antique condition, with very light overall toning, and minor wear on the frame, but no significant flaws. It should be noted that the piece was removed from the frame for examination, and acid free backing was placed inside before a new paper backing and wire hanger were added. For sale is a really charming antique folk art dated 1831 sampler that was made by Elizabeth Hollis aged 9 years. Although I certainly don't know for sure, I think that it could be American, and was completed on homespun linen. Images include birds, dogs, and flowers, trees, etc., but what I really love is the birdcage at the bottom. In addition, it has a triangle border, and 3 different versions of the alphabet, one also including the numbers 1 through 12. It is housed in what could be the original bird's eye maple with the original very wavy glass. The framed sampler measures about 19 3/4" x 19 1/2" with sight measurements of 16" x 15 1/2", and is in nice antique condition, with appropriate signs of age, but no really significant issues. Please look carefully at the pictures, and contact me with any questions or for additional photos.

The cabinet is in nice, but vintage/antique condition, with signs of age and use, looking as if it spent time in a garage or barn, and although the paint is old, I am unsure if it is original to the piece. Please look carefully at the pictures, and contact me with any questions or for additional photos.

I purchased it from a collection in Vermont, and it is hand pieced, hand quilted in a diamond grid pattern, hand bound in charming calico print fabrics, and is filled with cotton. The quilt measures about 88" x 84", and is in nice antique condition, with no holes, rips, or repairs, although there is an area of light toning as well as a couple of light spots near the bottom. For sale is a very dear antique handmade book form pin keep that I acquired in Pennsylvania that has a note about who made it and the year of 1857. For sale is a wonderful antique 19th century folk art cut and painted silhouette of a rather matronly woman that I acquired on a recent trip to the Midwest, East Coast, and New England. For sale is a very sweet antique watercolor fraktur on lined paper that depicts 2 large blue and gray birds and 2 smaller yellow and blue birds perched on a bowl of fruit(?) flanked by red stars and pink flowers. This charming piece has been in my collection for several years, but it's time to find a new owner. In addition, there is writing in the lower right corner, but I can't quite make it out, but I think it is a signature. I think it was made in Pennsylvania, but I don't remember for sure. The painting is housed in a period veneer frame with its original wire loop hanger, and measures about 7 1/2" x 5 3/8" with sight measurements of 5 1/2" x 3 3/8". For sale is an antique, likely late 18th to early 19th century burl veneer tea caddy that I acquired in Pennsylvania, although I think it is probably English. It is a sort of pyramid shape, and has mushroom button feet, as well as its original mother-of-pearl escutcheon and key, and the lock is in working condition. The piece measures about 5" tall, 7 3/8" long, and 4 1/8" wide, and is in nice antique condition, with signs of age and use, including a bit of warping causing the lid to not quite fit flat next to the box. In addition, 2 of the feet might be old replacements, as 2 of the feet have old screws to attach to the bottom, while the other 2 don't. Still, it is worthy of collection and display. Please look carefully at the pictures, and contact me with any questions or for additional photos.

For sale is a wonderful antique dated August 1820 sampler that was made by Lydia Otis, who the sampler states was born in Scituate, MA on February 5, 1809. According to information that came with the sampler, it came from the historic Otis Homestead. Several versions of the alphabet have been embroidered, as well as urns of flowers in the lower corners. There is also a religious verse that I can't make out very well, but a typed note that came with the sampler will be included that has most of the verse. I don't think that the frame is original. The framed sampler measures about 19 1/4" x 12 3/4" with sight measurements of 16 1/4" x 9 3/4". It is in nice antique condition, with overall toning and one area of minor damage. The piece measures about 25 1/2" long, 15" wide, and 1" side to side from the finials, and is in very nice antique condition, with great signs of age including wonderful paint craquelure. It should be noted that one of the finials is a new replacement, but you'd be pretty hard pressed to determine which one. Please look carefully at the pictures, and contact me with any questions, or for additional photos.

For sale is a charming and naive antique Amish folk art table rug that I acquired from a dealer friend in Maryland, and that I believe was most likely made in Pennsylvania. It is made of a variety of wool fabrics, and the designs include squares, circles, hearts, and bluebirds. The rug measures about 39" x 22 1/2", and is in nice antique condition, with a naive look, but no noticeable flaws. Please look carefully at the pictures, and contact me with any questions, or for additional photos.

For sale is a very sweet antique folk art cat's tongue rug that came from New Hampshire. It has appliqued flowers and 2 little white birds at the top, and is made from wool fabric, probably from an old suit, as well as wool felt, all laid on a burlap backing. It measures about 32" x 20 1/2", and is in antique used condition, with areas of wear and repairs, but at least in my opinion, it would still display well in your primitive decor . Please look carefully at the pictures, and contact me with any questions or for additional photos.

For sale is a wonderful antique primitive folk art decorated round pantry box that I acquired from a sale in Pennsylvania, and that may have been made there, although I don't know for sure. It has a charming sort of abstract cross and leaf design completed in white, red, yellow, green, and blue. The box is constructed with both nails and wooden pegs, and there is additional decoration around the rim of the lid and on the bottom of the box. It measures about 8 1/2" in diameter and 3 5/8" tall, and is in very nice antique condition, with nice signs of age and use, but no chips, cracks, or repairs. Please look carefully at the pictures, and contact me with any questions, or for additional photos.

For sale is an exquisite antique Victorian folk art valentine that has been in my collection for awhile. I have come to find out that the writing is Latin, and that the piece is most likely American. It is a heart shaped book that when opened, reveals wonderful 3-dimensional scherenscnitte, with watercolor flowers and Italian writing. The exterior is silk with beadwork, and the floral side has Italian writing, while the cross side has Latin writing. The book is trimmed with lace, and there is silk ribbon at the top and bottom. The valentine measures about 3 1/4" tall not including the ribbon, and 3 1/2" wide, and is in wonderful antique condition, with signs of age, but no significant issues. Please look carefully at the pictures, and contact me with any questions, or for additional photos.

For sale is a fabulous antique Scandinavian folk art tine box that I acquired from a collection in Missouri. It has a terrific very stylized painted bird on a branch on the lid, and there are leaves and flowers around the perimeter. A fairly simple palette was used, and colors include black, white, yellow, grayish green, and blue. The box is constructed in the traditional way, with thin wooden strips used to hold both the box and lid together, as well as wooden pegs. The piece measures about 15 3/8" long, 9 1/2" wide, and 6 3/8" tall. It is in nice antique condition, with nice signs of age, including even wear where the lid was taken on and off, and a few missing pegs. It should also be noted that it has been reinforced with a few later nails, but the box is very solid. Please look carefully at the pictures, and contact me with any questions, or for additional photos.

For sale is a fabulous antique 19th century primitive folk art 2 piece butter mold with a wonderful carved Pennsylvania style tulip, so I'm confident that it was made in that area. It is made of walnut, the box is hand dovetailed, and the entire piece has a wonderful old dry surface. The box measures about 7 1/2" long, 5" wide, and 2 3/4" tall, while the print itself is about 4" square and 1/2" thick. The image of the tulip alone is about 3" tall and 2 1/8" wide. The piece is in very nice antique condition, with a warm patina, but no chips, cracks, etc. Please look carefully at the pictures, and contact me with any questions, or for additional photos.

For sale is a very sweet antique dated 1849 folk art scherenschnitte love token/valentine, that has hearts and tulips in the design, as well as locks of hair that are from the names that are written in the middle, which are Moses, Delight, Coral, Caroline, Charles, Eleanor, George, and Charlott. There are also the letters H,A,F,Z,I, and M. around the center. The piece is mounted on black paper, placed in what I believe is a period frame, and the beveled wood backing is still intact. It measures about 12" x 11", with sight measurements of 9 1/4" x 8 1/4". The image itself is about 6 3/4" square. The piece is in nice antique condition, with no significant flaws, although there is a repaired tear in one corner, barely noticeable, but mentioned for the sake of complete accuracy. Please look carefully at the pictures, and contact me with any questions, of for additional photos.

For sale is a very nice antique 18th century primitive folk art wrought iron toaster that I acquired from a sale in Maine. It has nice curlicue designs, 3 feet that are riveted in place, and it swivels for toasting. The piece measures about 20 1/2" long and 13 1/2" wide, and is in nice antique condition, with signs of age and use including a dark patina, as well as minor rust and pitting, but it displays very well. Please look carefully at the pictures, and contact me with any questions, or for additional photos.

For sale is a charming antique ca. 1860's-1870's flower basket quilt that came from Ohio. It is hand pieced, hand appliqued, and elaborately hand quilted in grid and feather wreath designs, and I believe it is thinly filled with raw cotton, as you can see the occasional cotton seed when the quilt is held to the light. The quilt measures about 78" x 76", and is in nice antique condition, with some minor wear on the binding, very light toning, and a few very light spots, not noticeable, but mentioned for the same of complete accuracy. Please look carefully at the pictures, and contact me with any questions, or for additional photos.

For sale is a very endearing 19th century scissor cut valentine or love token that has been in my collection for a few years. It is rather naively done, with the main design being a circle of hearts with writing in sepia ink. It is in English, but much of it is rather hard to decipher, but 2 of the hearts say "This is a heart", and the center says "Here I goe around the ring that has no end". The piece has been placed on a black background, and housed in an appropriate, but fairly modern gold frame. The framed valentine measures about 14 1/4" x 13 1/2", with sight measurements of 12" x 11 1/4", and the piece itself measuring about 7 1/2" in diameter. It is in nice antique condition, with some toning, mainly around the folds, a few light spots, but no really significant flaws. Please look carefully at the pictures, and contact me with any questions, or for additional photos.

For sale is a rare antique homespun table cover that has embroidery in one corner that says" Anno 1798, with what I believe is the maker's name, which looks to be Eastern European. The piece is trimmed in lace, and measures about 82" x 66". It is in very nice antique condition, with no holes, rips, noticeable stains, or repairs. Please look carefully at the pictures, and contact me with any questions.

For sale is a very sweet framed folk art scherenschnitte that depicts a bird tree. I think that it may have been made in Pennsylvania, but I can't completely verify that. The piece is signed "John Mahaffey", and is housed in an old gold painted frame. The framed piece measures about 8 5/8" x 6 7/8" with sight measurements of 7 5/8" x 5 7/8". It is in nice antique condition, with nice signs of age, but no significant flaws. Please look carefully at the pictures, and contact me with any questions.

For sale is a charming antique ca. 1840 painted silhouette of a girl holding a book. I was told that it was an unsigned Hubard piece. It is in a period walnut veneered frame with a metal hanger at the top. The framed piece measures about 9 3/4" x 7 1/2" with sight measurements of 7 1/2" x 5 1/4". The image itself is about 6" high and 3" wide. The piece is in very nice antique condition, with expected and appropriate signs of age, but no significant flaws. Please look carefully at the pictures, and contact me with any questions.

For sale is a wonderful antique 19th century folk art pantry/bandbox that I found in Ohio, but that was made in Pennsylvania. It is constructed with splints and wooden pegs. On both the lid and sides, there is a very stereotypical PA. Dutch style design of red tulips with yellow centers, and almost comma shaped leaves on the lid. The box measures about 17 1/2" long, 8 1/2" wide, and 5 3/4" tall, and is in nice but antique condition, with a dark aged patina, an area of missing wood on the top, as well as expected wear around the edges on both the lid and box. There is what looks like a crack on the lid, but I believe that 2 pieces of wood were used in its construction, as when you look on the inside, the line is very straight, and the grain doesn't quite match. In addition, there have been a few areas where nails have been added for reinforcement. Please look carefully at the pictures, and contact me with any questions.

For sale is a very nice antique folk art stumpwork 6 petal flower design table mat, or possibly small lap robe. Each block is completed on a variety of different fabrics, measures about 6 1/2" square, and there are 30 squares in total. The backing fabric is black wool flannel, I believe. The entire piece measures about 39 1/4" x 33", and is in very nice antique condition. Please look carefully at the pictures, and contact me with any questions.

For sale is a wonderful antique dated 1838 watercolor fraktur bookplate with what I think is German writing, and a red and blue bird flanked by red and blue tulips at the bottom. I think that it is most likely from Pennsylvania, and has been placed on acid free backing, and housed in an antique frame. The framed piece measures about 9 5/8" x 7" with sight measurements of 7 5/8" x 5". The fraktur itself measures about 6 1/4" x 3 1/2", and is in antique but nice displayable condition, with minor toning and stains, as well as areas of damage around the edges. The frame is in good condition, and a new paper backing has been added. Please look carefully at the pictures, and contact me with any questions.
